The only thing I think is bad about zombie movies is, they go after a zombie with an ax, or baseball bat, or machete, but they never get blood on them, and when they do, it's never in the face - eyes, nose, mouth - or it's never addressed as dangerous. Assuming that what the zombies carry is as pervasively contagious as Ebola, say, this would make it difficult to kill a zombie with say, an ax, without becoming infected just from splashback. Fill a cantaloupe with fake blood and cow's brains and hit it with a baseball bat and see what happens. Of course, you can't have all the characters wearing face shields, but in a real zombie epidemic, that's what I would want to be wearing. There have been lots of times when I thought to myself I'd never do what the characters are doing. Like when they had the two walkers in those noose-poles and Rick was walking one of them about 5 feet behind Herschel. There's no way I'd turn my back on a walker even if he was tied up. Or even Shane looking into the barn. I was thinking all it would take is some spit or drool to get flung in his eyes and it's all over.

To what Morg 308 was saying, I have the same concern about catching infection through the splattered blood. In the second episode "Guts," when the group used a zombie's guts, Rick had the good sense to use a face mask before pounding on it. I thought that whenever they go out galavanting, they should wear some protective gear and clothing. I don't care if it's Georgia in the summer, I would wear a leather jacket and some kind of protective gear for the face. Of course, I say this in the comfort of AC.

Though I agree with you, try and remember the target audience. Suppose they did wear protective clothing - how do you think the average viewer would respond to someone wearing long sleeves in the dead of Southern Summer? They would likely think it was bizarre and pointless, unless the characters pointed out the merits of wearing something that protects their skin in an episode. There are a lot of valid points that are also left out because these people are all quite plain. I actually appreciate that the show does not include a token survivalist or conspiracy theorist. The closest to that would likely be Daryl, who is really just a caricature of the rural American Southron.

I liked Rick's quick dispatch of those two!
Bored of Laurie, Glenn's a sweetheart and Shane is probably one of the most interesting characters.

Yeah, there was no point for Laurie to drive into town like that, that was just dumb.
But I agree, Rick's quite the quick draw with that Python. That was badass.

Glenn kicks a**! Rick's out to prove he's a good cop, father and husband, Shane is out to prove he's all macho. Glenn's the only one who does things simply because it's the right thing to do. All hail Short-Round

I enjoyed the first half of this season, albeit a bit slower in pace than the first series, but this second half has really kicked off. Rick was back to being a bit 'unwise' with his choices, I keep reading Lori compared to Lady McBeth, (but reckon Daryl hit it on the head calling her Olive Oyl). Glenn is still getting more depth to him, Shane is getting scarier and err...
...I found a youtube clip of next week's...and spent 10minutes translating it from Spanish via some online site.

That was a really good episode tonight. Will be interesting to see if Shane falls back into the role of sidekick to Rick, or if he continues to challenge his authority.
And I can kind of see the argument of "what's the point of living" in a post-apocalypse world, but still I don't think you ever let anyone who's depressed commit suicide. That decision should not be made when you're irrational.

That decision should not be made when you're irrational. That part really really wound me up - she's a kid, she's just lost her mum and Andrea takes it on herself to be a psychologist - 'cos it worked for her. Found the bits back at the farm to be a bit tedious this week, whereas I've not thought that before. The Shane/Rick triangle was stepped up a gear, liked that we found there hadn't been anything going on beforehand (if we can believe Shane) and truly didn't know whether Rick was going to go back for Shane or not - glad he did, I quite like Shane. I do think there was some resolution to it. That lad could well become a liability.. Missed Daryl, missed Glenn ...and even missed Herschel this week. (Are we really halfway through this bit already?)

Or maybe Rick and her were just having issues, I don't remember exactly.

There was mention of things not going well between them - there's a scene right at the beginning where Rick is talking about how he can't do or say anything right, that's before the shoot out. In the last episode Shane swore he didn't look at Lori before it all kicked off. To be honest I'd be happy if that particular triangle took a back seat for a while and they concentrated on swarms of zombies - there's nothing that makes me happier! On another note I wish they'd do a bit more scavenging, they appear to have plentiful food at the farm (it being a farm) but surely they can't have EVERYTHING there? Interesting article in the Independent today. It makes a very valid point about Andrew Lincoln, he would not have been my first choice for the role. I've always liked him but he was never any sort of tough guy. Sigh. I can't work how to do links, it's www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/features/a-new-life-for-some-old-tv-favourites-7447149.html

Holy crap, the guy who plays Rick is English? It's so strange to see "American" characters on tv who have a foreign accent in real life.
He definitely has his American accent down. That was even more of a surprise than Apollo on Battlestar.

He sounds quite posh in that interview - this is how I remember him.. I did read somewhere that he stays in accent at home when he's filming TWD and his wife and kids find it bizarre.
