Say you're away from home, at work for example, and you and everyone around you is struck blind. Could you make your way home?
I work about 20 miles from my home, but I think I could make it. The route is fairly direct, and I can even think of a few stores along the way for food and drink, and even better shoes than I'd have at work.
Of course getting home is only the first step of survival. I doubt I could survive more than a few weeks, unless a large portion of the population died off first, freeing up enough resources for me to live on.

Interesting to think about but I don't want to actually try it because I think it would be incredibly difficult to find a way home if you'd been struck blind. Think about how difficult it is to navigate around your own home in the middle of the night without the lights on, even if you've lived there for years. I live approximately 12 miles from my workplace and it involves crossing a river and three major roads along with avoiding some small valleys and some serious bushland. While I like to believe I could navigate all that while blind, the realist in me says it would probably take me a day if I'm lucky, instead of a few hours.

I'm home most of the time anyway. Although.. if I was in town I could probably make my way back home. It'd take a long time. I've got a lake for water, and I bought a bunch of rat traps for the purpose of catching birds, though I wouldn't be able to cook the meat on a fire. Guess I'd have to try and just drink the blood or something.

If you haven't walked the route several times and 99% or more of everyone else is blind anything over a few hundred yards might as well be the moon. People do not walk in staright lines without visual navigation. How many intersections between your place of work and home, including unmarked access roads and divewys, don't know that answer you are not getting home blind.

Great images in this posts are similar to love quotes for her and reminding of writing combination of poetry on the scenarios.

There's a really good English series called "The Triffids", it was very good. About plants which were engineered for their oil. There's a solar flare which blinds most of the population and they walk around unable to see. Then the plants eat the people because they can't see to run away! Brilliant.
