I really liked some of the early touches that DiLouie added. Stuff like the way the jewellery of the Infected clicks on the Bradley's exterior, or the way they're attracted to bright colors. And the graffiti on the walls wasn't an original idea, but it was still cool that he showed us some of it.

I did like the colors addition and the screaming they did when it started. Haven't gotten to many flashbacks but would like to know what happened in those 3 days from the screaming to the re awakening of the infected. He mentioned planes falling out of the sky but then it seemed like 3 days later it was back to normal and get back to work. I really liked how the guy who was super prepared for the end of the world (Ethan's neighbor) was one of the first ones attacked by the infected. The loud generator and lights did him in. Made me smirk.

That was great. It really gave it a sense of realism.

I must admit, at first I thought the book was going to suck. The story seemed to jump around randomly for the first few pages and felt really disjointed to me. Luckily this settled down and DiLouie's quite remarkable prose kicked in.
