I desperately need to find out what the other half of this QR code is. I call it the "catacode" because it is half of a clue that might give us the ability to prepare for the cataclysm that is to come. This code relates to the catalyst which will spark a lawless apocalypse! I suspect that there are members of a team that are involved in it that already have the other part of this code. If you are reading this, than you are likely starting to have second thoughts about what you intend to do. As such, please IM me with other part of this code! If anyone else has stumbled across it, please don't hesitate to contact me! If you're unaware of why I track this, you can read my journal at: The Gavin Hesterdale JournalAttachments:

Actually that QR code reminds me of one of the codes used to take you directly to one of the levels in the PS3 game LittleBigPlanet 2 The game never interested me but I've seen a lot of the QR codes that were created to let you jump levels. It's either that or someone pinched one of the Toyota vehicle parts codes.

I tried duplicating that half to fill in the other half, but the bar code reader on my phone couldn't read it. I'd be curious to know what it points to.

The problem is that with QR code there's usually three large squares (one each in the top left, top right and bottom left corners) to form reference points for the code reader so you can't duplicate the shown half and paste into the unknown half. There are so many QR codes in use (mostly in Japan), that you could spend months going through them all. You can't just match up another half as easily as it seems in the above mentioned request. I'm curious about it but I'm very sceptical that it is a code about some impending cataclysm. It could very well be just another QR code assigned to vehicle manufacture and might just be an item tag for a gear stick lever or carburettor.

Hey newyorkpattern, thanks for the info. As mentioned above, I was sceptical but interested. Now I'm irritated, the guys blog seemed like the ravings of a loony but it was entertaining enough. Now that it seems to be nothing more than a sneaky way to try and get us interested in WoW (which I have absolutely no interest in because I generally can't stand 75% of the people who play MMOs), I'm going to point out the reason I took the tag KevinTheCynic.
Cynic: noun. Meaning: A person who believes people are generally motivated by selfish reasons. (Obviously there are other meanings for cynic, but that's the specific reason I took the tag)

I checked out the site too. It does seem pretty strange, but kinda interesting. But no, I don't think he's pointing us to anything WoW related. QR codes are used for all kinds of things now days. Google will even give you one for short links you create on their goo.gl service.

I had not seen your post on MEGAT0N.us from the 19th of February. The WoW intersection must be incidental.

Hey guys, This is legit, but different. Best way to explain it would be like an Alternate Reality intersection. Has nothing to do with World of Warcraft or any fantasy RPG. Gavin is a prophet from a post apocalyptic future that could be. He sees what's coming down the pike in his reality and is trying to figure out how to change it. I'm one of the Depleted fans that have been following Gavin's writings. The world he's describing is very well one that could be true in the future, which is what makes it so spooky. However, to the best of my understanding, it's part of a Creative Community bent on exploring the dark elements of the future destruction of man. Anyone can contribute to it, but a core group of developers and creators help make sure that the quality stays high and that if fits inside an overall skeleton. The Gavin character is part of the backstory that none of us fully understand, but the code in question has been part of his journal for quite awhile. I've heard rumors that other fans have found clues regarding it, but I'm not sure what. The Depleted people recently opened the doors for folks to start sending in stuff, so if you want to check out their contributor site, it's pretty cool. One of my stories, Shards of Glass, was published htere recently, too! www.worldofdepleted.com/contributor/

Hey Fred, thanks for the info. And do you have direct link to your story? Was it accepted as canon?

Megaton, Yeah, actually it was! Here's the page they made me when the story was accepted: Shards of Glass. Because I wanted to explore some of the larger mythology, I contacted the cats at Viking and they let me have a few cool secrets from the future of the series to weave in, so I was totally stoked! -Fred

Since the stories are all Creative Commons, I'm going to "borrow" them for my Fiction page as well. Hopefully that should get you a few more eyeballs at least.

Oh, and just to be clear, Gavin Hesterdale is a character in the World of Depleted mythology. I actually suggested to the creators of WoD that it would be cool for Gavin to interact with real fans of the genre via our forum, while remaining in character. So they weren't trying to spam us or anything, it was me who invited them here. For more on the World of Depleted, check out worldofdepleted.com

Ahh okay. I take back my comments (i.e. those comments denigrating it as being some cheap push to promote WoW). That a group of people can come together and create a story in such a way is pretty good really, I'm not necessarily a fan of viral marketing but I still respect the effort the group made to make a community story (now that I actually understand what was happening!)
