That was a fantastic start - from that little bit at the beginning where they're cohesive, organised and cool, they cleared that house in no time and Carl's trusted to carry a gun - To Michonne lopping those heads off and Rick chopping Hershel's leg off.
Lots of gore, loads of action, I loved it. (and just hope it keeps up the pace and hasn't spent the whole budget on the first episode)

Four episodes in and it hasn't yet let up - makes the first two series look tame.

I'm so glad they have picked up the pace - the second series was so slow I was tempted to give up on it. I'm glad the Governor has been introduced so quickly, I was half expecting him to come into it at the end of the series.

I'm not sure that I've seen anyone reload their guns during an attack on this show. But then again a show about the zombie apocalypse may not be the best place to look for realism.

Just caught up with the first half of series 3 and all I can say is 'wow'.
Zombies are not top of my PA list of likes but there are a lot of producers out there who try to do the genres of PA that I do prefer who need to sit themselves down with the people behing the 'Walking Dead' and learn.
Because this is up there with the best PA ever. Fantastic characters, all of them with their own flaws allied with some great scripts and twists and turns in the plot along with a willingess to kill of major characters with no hesitation.
One thing I dont really get is this Governer character. I get the bit about keeping the daughter locked up because I could imagine myself doing similar but the whole heads in the tank bit, that I struggle with. Also why kill the soldiers ? Surely they are what you would want to join up with you ? Or am I missing something fundamental ?

That he is insane with grief, obsessed with power and control and a megalomaniac. He's another really good actor, the only other thing I remember him in is a Doctor Who special, really didn't think he could carry off this part. But then, I thought the same thing of Andrew Lincoln, having only ever seen him as 'Egg' and in 'Love Actually'. There's less than half a dozen tv shows I make a point of watching at the moment. This, Dexter, Big Bang theory and... xfactor

More power to them for doing so. As to the actors well the formula seems to be for a lot of US tv shows now is to have one or two British character actors involved. Only just found out that the leading role in 'Sons of Anarchy' is actually a Brit and from Newcastle of all places !

"Also why kill the soldiers ? Surely they are what you would want to join up with you ? " Because they would be a threat to his position of power. The soldiers could easily take over. Kirkman and some other guy have two novels out. One is about the Governor and how he came about. And who he really is. Worth a read. Something that really bugged me about the first episode was that the muzzle fire from the guns was added digitally and not very well but other than that season 3 looks to be awesome! The Andrea character is bugging me. In real life I would've ditched her (otherwise fine) ass a long time ago.

And it's back. Hasn't suffered for the break, straight back into the action and Rick's having a minor breakdown.
As an aside; how authentic is Andrew Lincoln's accent? There aren't many american actors who can do a convincing English accent (to my ears, Renee Z being an exception) but I can't tell how good his accent is from my viewpoint

I agree, I didn't even know Andrew Lincoln was English until I saw the interviews for Series 2.
I quite like the direction they are taking it, keeping it different from the comic books to keep the comic readers on their toes.

I'm glad they are keeping it different to the comics too, although I am wondering what will happen to the baby.
Series 3 is excellent so far, the last episode I saw was when the Governor started to attack the prison - I really wan't expecting it to happen so soon! Loved Daryl and Merle swooping in to save the day (for now at least) and I wonder if Tyrone will be back? I still have last night's UK episode to watch.

I still have the 3rd of March episode to watch. I don't know what they are currently doing with Tyreese, in the comic books he filled the role of Shane in series 2 as Rick's right hand man and this continued to the prison. I don't know if they plan to do a different thing in series 4 perhaps and have him doing the same role in later story archs.

Well season three ends tomorrow night. Easter Sunday. It's nice to know that even though all the other networks will have Easter specials on that we'll still be able to watch Zombies and Game of Thrones.
I'm guessing that another major character from Ricks group will be killed off - it's just a matter of who. And I'm guessing that the Governor will live until next season. He's too good a villain to kill off. We'll just have to see how accurate my predictions are.
If I were one of the writers on the show I'd suggest they send Carl to go to Woodbury to kill the Gov. You know they'd let a kid in the gate and they might not even search him for weapons. And there's no doubt that Carl is man enough for the job. He'd volunteer in a heartbeat.

One more thought. What if the Gov. kidnaps Lil Shitkicker as a replacement for Penny?
